The Emergency Communications Center is a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) with all of the call takers and dispatchers certified as Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMD), which is required by the Officer of Statewide Emergency Telecommunications (OSET). The police and fire supervisors are sworn personnel but the dispatchers are civilians with the job description of Public Safety Dispatcher.
